Salt Lake City, Utah

Arrived in Salt Lake City on September 20, 2020 with no real plans for the next steps. A ‘stress fracture’ caused us to stay a little longer than expected. Here’s a week by week summary.

Week 1: Tanners Flat Campground, Willard Bay State Park

C got very excited about a rather large, four-legged morning visitor.

Willard Bay sunset. The mountains are pink, but C had nothing to drink!

C hiked The Living Room Lookout Trail with N.&M.O’M.

N.O’M gave me a new decoration. I think C took the lazy way out in putting them up.

Week 2: Willard Bay State Park, Boon-docking at Cabela’s in Farmington, Great Salt Lake State Park, House-sitting

Week 3: House-sitting, Mountain Shadows RV Park

C discovered Bonneville Seabase for inland salt water scuba diving. Who would have known? By the way, that’s salt on the ground, not snow!

Week 4: Mountain Shadows RV Park

J flew out to visit!!! They took a drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon. On a separate drive, they found another hot spring. I think C is addicted.

Week 5: Great Salt Lake State Park

C and J drove out to Bonneville Salt Flats. I’m glad they took the rental car, I don’t think I could have handled the speedway.

C went out early one morning and got some pictures of Mirabilite, a rare crystal that forms in salt water springs at colder temperatures.

And a few more interesting pictures.

Week 6: Surgery at Clay’s RV

This stress fracture developed into something serious about week 2 into our stay here in Salt Lake City. Hoping that surgery goes well and I’m back on the road by Halloween! C plans to stay in Park City, UT and hopes to get in some good hiking.

While in Park City, C took Big Blue in for a replacement front shock and visited Homestead Resort for an afternoon. She was excited to get another scuba dive in at Homestead Crater.

All better! C was happy to get back on the road. We left Salt Lake City on October 30th, 40 days after arriving.
