Florida to California and back to the National Capital Region

J&C’s son B needed to move from San Diego, California to Annapolis, Maryland so we left Florida on March 8 to pick him up. It was a fast trip with only a few stops on the way west, but took our time to visit family and friends on the way back.

We made one very quick stop along the way to California at Desert View Tower. C noticed it once while driving out with her mom. Let’s just say it is a rather eclectic spot, especially passing the flying saucer retrieval and repair spot on the short drive in from the highway.

We arrived in San Diego on March 12th and stayed at the Chula Vista Campground a few nights before moving over to Sweetwater Summit Regional Park. Can you find me?

It took longer than expected for B to get moved out and collect his paperwork so we moved back to the Chula Vista Campground for a few more nights. I got to check out the Pacific Ocean.

After getting B moved out, he wanted to spend some time in Las Vegas. C failed to get another picture of me on the strip. So disappointed. After Las Vegas, we made it to Grand Junction, Colorado for a night and then over the Rocky Mountains. I beat my Utah altitude record of 9,580 feet by more than another 1,500 feet.

We stopped in Denver and had lunch with C’s cousin M.C.B. and made it to North Platte, Nebraska for the night. Then, on to Columbus, Nebraska to visit with C’s mom and a free stay at Loup Park again. It didn’t take long for this to happen with J and B around.

After a few days visiting C’s family, we moved to Burlington, Iowa to visit J’s family. Then, stopped in Streamwood, Illinois to visit M.M. for a few days and get in a bit of a Taste of Chicago from Lou Malnati’s, Portillo’s and Barney’s Ribs, and Oberweis Dairy. One more night on the road and we finally we made it back to the east coast. My tattoos got pretty dirty on the way back.

Whew, that was a lot of miles. Time for a rest? Maybe.
